Positive aspects of the product (pros): Great for safety - keeps you away from the fireworks
Cons: Doesn't always fire in sequence (1,2,3,4,5); Not all fire all the time

I purchased the F5 kit shortly after it came out. I had ordered one (1) kits and one (1) box of extra fuses. Because of problems off the bat with some customers complaining of units not firing all five fuses, Phantom sent me two (2) additional sets of fuses.

For my test, I took two of the fuse kits from the main box and two random ones from the other boxes.

The first fuse from the main box only fired three out of the five fuses. The second fuse did a little better with four out of five.

The last two fuses worked great AND fired in sequence.

So, apparently the problem is with the fuses that come with the initial kit itself.

I'm guessing that since this kit just came out, they will have problems, but I know for a fact that Phantom is working on resolving them.

Positive aspects of the product (pros):
Cons: Couldn't get all to light on any fuse pack

I tried a kit this year, and I have to say, if they can get them to work better next year, I would try it again. This year, I couldn't get a full set to go off on the kit fuses or the refills. It would be a great product if they fix it by next season.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): If it worked it would be great.
Cons: Does not work.

Test fired three sets. All three fired 4 of five, could deal with that. Then for the show, the unit stopped firing at all after 5 sets. Tossed it and got out the backup ignition device. This product is NOT ready for release/sale!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Reasonable price. Don't have to deal with E-matches
Cons: Not enough cues

I recently received 2 of the new 2006 units and posted my impression of it in the Manuf/Phantom forum. The unit is 39.99 with 30 E-Fuses and extra E-Fuses are 9.99 for a pack of 25. The fuses are wired in groups of 5.
After giving this some more thought I think it is a good way of getting into remote firing of your show and not spending a huge amount of money. As I mentioned in the other forum, if you do some fancy fusing you can probably get by with less cues.
There don't seem to be any pyrotechnics involved in these fuses like you would have in an E-Match. It looks like very short groups of strands of nichrome wire that are in the end of each F5 E-Fuse clip. The receiver is powered by 3 AA batteries and the instructions state that there is a one second delay before you can fire the next E-Fuse.
I imagine that there is a capacitor in the receiver that has to charge up in order to put enough electricity through the nichrome wire and that is why there is a 1 second delay. I'm impressed that this would light a fuse.
As stated in the other forum, I fired 5 smoke balls in order by pressing the fire button on the remote each time I wanted to fire one. That means you would be able to set off your fuses one at a time when you want. As long as you wired them in the order you intended to fire them. Just make sure each clip is making good contact with the fuse it is on.
The instructions no longer mention that the unit will shut itself off after 6 minutes of non use. Unfortunately, I forgot to test that part of it and I really dont want to waste any more E-Fuse right now. But since it is not mentioned in the instructions, maybe that doesn't happen on the new units.
I love hand firing mortars but I will definately be using this firing system on repeaters and the mortars in the finale.
All in all, I would say this is a good way to remotely fire your displays for a reasonable price. Plus you won't have to deal with E-matches.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): an innovation
Cons: the color of the firng button in the remote

well for me, i was so exited to buy this product because here in the philippines we are only lighting fireworks in the traditional way and that is to light them using a match or a lighter and when this product came out i didnt hesitate to buy it. i tried this product for my birthday and i used 5 cakes of dragon fireworks ( www.dragonfireworks.com) and when finally i have arranged all tha cakes and placed the wires i had encountered a small problem it was not working but then i finally realied that i was pressing the wrong button and that is the blue button ( BLUE=STOP and RED= fire) the problem with the color is... since the color RED is associated with STOP maybe it is more right that they have interchanged the color of the firing remote so that it wouldnt be confusing to the people who might buy this product in the future thats all thanks!!!!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): none
Cons: everything

Didnt fire in the 1,2,3,4,5 sequence it should have.

Not a good product. for $200 you can get a 12 cue remote firing ststem or 16 cue for $350 that works much better and at a range of upto 500ft ,,, i dont recommend this to anyone unless you want to fire the wrong cue and the wrong time or fire to many at once...

Positive aspects of the product (pros): It worked on my first try.
Cons: none

Hopefully it keeps on working. It fired in order while I was sitting in my chair. I pressed the green button for one second 5x and all five went off again in order. Green is fire and red is stop for this version in June of 2007. Easy to understand directions. clip on firework, insert wire, press black button to turn on, wait 12 seconds until green and red are flashing then press green button 5x.

Update 6/30/07. I used it two more times and it worked like a charm. Very happy!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): great concept and price
Cons: didn't work

i tried this a couple of years ago and it didn't work then, i was cautioned by some one at the store that said it has been revised and they didn't have any info back on it yet, i should have gone with my instincts, as it did not work for me this year either

I bought it under the predator name brand. I used it to fire 5 boards of ass't 200 and 500 gram cakes. The system worked perfectly. I wholly recomend it. The bugs seem to have been worked out.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): none
Cons: does not work

I think it's total junk and does or does not fire when you want it to! Waste of money just like everything from Phantom.
