What are your favorite novelties and odds and ends that you enjoy?
I found this piece by Brothers called Spinnin Jimmy a few years ago. I got them at a tent and have never seen them again anywhere. It is listed in the catalog as a product in2002. http://fireworkscatalog.com/promo/fulllist.html
It looks like Jimmy Cricket made of cardboard and you tie the string to a stick. When you light it the legs fall down and these three small flares start changing several vibrant neon colors making the cardboard cricket spin. That is all it does kind of like a chinese spinning lantern but better. The colors are nice and rich. Greens, dark blue, deep red, pink, purple, bright yellow, orange and they burn for about 90 seconds. I would like to find them again for a project if they are not obsolete.
Have you guys ever seen it or something like it?

I've never seen that one but it sounds nice. Why do a lot of good pieces disappear? Anyhow, my favorite novelty is a ground spinner Phantom used to carry called Crackling Cyclone. It spins, whistles and ends with a loud cracling fountain. Haven't seen those for years now.

I don't remember that one. They have another small spinner that flies called Baby Sunflower. Better than Zips. These things are a pleasure because some of them start out hovering just a few feet above the ground like a helicopter flying low before they take flight about 50 feet.
I don't know why the good stuff always disappears but I bet some of has to do with marketing. I am wondering about that Jimmy because the flares on them are more like smaller 5" lances. Like what is used here: http://www.pyroinnovations.com/pyrotrainin..._set_pieces.wmv
Ill go with the crackling spinners, dragon eggs, green crackling balls, then the color crackling balls, then the black jumbo crackling ball. If you all havent heard or tried kryptonite, try and get ahold of them. It's just a huge exploision of crackling all at once!! Must have. Enough of my rambling. Even though most of us dont love novelties all the time, you can always sit back and enjoy a tank.

Funny... I just posted on your cracklin thread from October and hear you are still loving it. That was great timing! I was thinking about whip crackers when I started this. I will look for kryptonite. Do you have a specific brand it is in?

Shotgun. I see them now. That is like the burst size of crackle from fantasy fountain but it lasts a second longer. They would look good a little elevated.

Haha i replied back too and trust me, wait until you light and see it. You will even have a better view or opinion for that matter. I have seen pure fantasy on video and i cant recall how big the crackles were, but for kryptonit, you need to back up more than 5 feet

Here is another great novelty that I like a lot. These are not the same as yout typical paper snap that most people know but it is a 1.4 item. These pop pops produce an almost firecracker sound and are about the size of a lady finger. The people at work could not believe it did what it did without needing a match. New Production Color T8500B. I enjoy these little guys.
Ive tried the same exact thing. These pop pops are a must for novelty items in any firework store. Very loud. Some people reviewed these things and have said they sound like firecrackers. Whether I can make that call or not, these things are Loud! Itl tingle or make your ear ring if you pop it too close to you. I like the little fountains that shoot out spinners as well. The Tazmanian devils are coool, but i think there are better quality items just like them or very similar.

The Pop Pops have been around for about three years or more. I posted about them on Bob Weavers forum a long time ago, but was told to tone down the review so they would not get pulled. I've read a couple comments that the Pop Pops days may be numbered, but I have no idea if this is true or not.

I always loved the fountain to spinner combo, too! Black Cat makes an awesome one, that kinda looks like a castle with 4 towers. Can't remember the name, but it is a repeating version. You need a WIDE open space for this, as the spinners are energetic and get launched 4 or 5 feet into the air. Nice fountains, too. It's like the ultimate novelty!!
I'm also a sucker for ground blooms. You do have to buy the jumbo version nowadays to get the effect the regular ones USED to give. Seriously, that pink label brings back so many memories every time I see it! I've found Shogun brand jumbo ground blooms are good ones to buy, and their crackling blooms and flying blooms are cool as heck, too.
I bought some elephant novelties from Brothers a couple years back, but have not lit them. They looked pretty cool. Also a fire truck novelty (TNT, I believe) also not lit yet. And a tugboat from Brothers.
The glorious brand mammoth 40" day parachutes are very reliable, for chinese chutes, and the kids love to chase em. The Shogun paratroopers ones are the best, though. Each has a plastic army guy hanging from it instead of a cardboard and clay weight. I found some with three flags, a flare and some crackle, they worked about half the time- looked cool as heck when they did! Some of those parachute cakes are really cool, but try one out first before you buy a case- some are just crap...

I tossed 6 short morning glories into a camp fire last night. Then 6 more, then 6 more. It made a very brilliant and colorful display of strobe effect for a few seconds. I was pleased. Now I know what to do with those pesty things. One other piece I really like are ZIPS, the large jumping jacks that fly. I enjoy jumbo ground blooms too. They make a triangle shape when spinning and change colors.

I had to look up the black cat fountain that you were talking about. Cracker jack in the box. Ive seen it in video and it looks really good! Yeah you gotta love the ground blooms. I have lit sooo many of them lol. They work in water too. I also have to agree with you on the shogun brand. They are pretty good, but I have had spinners "explode" or made a loud report before.
